Animated in DaVinci Resolve and Procreate, this project allowed me to push my maximalist digital style to its limits—although I’m sure I can go further in the future. The biggest challenge when working on motion projects like this was stretching my creativity to create new elements and organizing the mountain of assets that were needed.
Working with music is always a blast, but it also comes with its own unique challenges. Audio is an extension of the user experience, and having elements sync up to music requires an almost continuous reiteration of ideas. I’ve found it very helpful to expand my knowledge of sound design and develop an understanding of easing audio in and out.

Working with music

This project was completed for one of my motion classes. The goal was to learn how to manipulate sound to enhance storytelling through motion. I edited the audio in DaVinci Resolve, using reverb and low-pass filters to create a sense of space within the environment. While the audio is the highlight of this project, I’ve included a simple visualizer created with Osci-render

Practice
This project was created for my Motion Design class. The prompt challenged us to combine two words into a new concept and animate the result. I developed 'Gloomoid,' animating the piece in DaVinci Resolve with a focus on balancing intensity and melancholy. I utilized negative space and a slow reveal, using the opening sequence's rhythmic flashing to gradually introduce the word and establish the atmosphere.

FOLKPUNKFEST was a branding project I undertook in school, with the goal being to research and design a music festival. This animation is just a small part of the overall project (see design page). This was drawn in procreate and further edited in DaVinci.
